COLD FURY 5: Five Years of Fury

February 3, 2006 marked a significant anniversary for Chaotic Wrestling as they presented the fifth installment of the premier wrestling event in New England: COLD FURY. COLD FURY 5 marked Five Years of Fury, and what better way to celebrate than with the inception of the Chaotic Wrestling Hall of Fame and a history making main event which pitted Chaotic Wrestling Heavyweight Champion Handsome Johnny squaring off against "The Shooter" Mike Kruel in Chaotic Wrestling's first ever Steel Cage Match.

While fans were anticipating a great main event, there was plenty business to tend to beforehand. "Latin Fury" Luis Ortiz is a man who had become synonymous with Chaotic Wrestling. Ortiz had been with the company for over 5 years, had participated in the main event in 3 out of the 4 previous COLD FURY events, and if you hadn't drawn the connection yet, yes the event itself was named after him. Luis was the first man to win the CW Heavyweight Title at a COLD FURY (defeating Ronnie D. Lishus at COLD FURY 1), the first man to win the Triple Crown and now was the first person inducted into the Chaotic Wrestling Hall of Fame. Later on in the evening Ortiz (subbing for an injured Bryan Logan) teamed up with Matt Logan to take on the Intellectual Properties (Arch Kincaid & Max Bauer) for the CW Tag Team Titles. Unfortunately for them their bid came up short against the defending champs.

The Chaotic Wrestling New England Title was also on the line at COLD FURY 5 as champion Thomas Penmanship was defending against an enormous underdog in the form of the Psycho. Before the contest nobody could have conceived that the lovable red-head from Solomon's Mental Institute would walk away with the title, but after botched interference by Intellectual Properties, Psycho was able to roll up Penmanship and get the three (albeit with a mouthful of tights). Fans went nuts and Cinderella was alive and well inside the PAV in the unlikely form of Psycho.

The cage match main event between Handsome Johnny and "The Shooter" Mike Kruel is one that fans were clamoring to see. Johnny and Kruel had been battling back and forth for almost a year by the time the event rolled around. Kruel won the belt in a tournament where he defeated The Handsome One in the finals, then after losing it to him at SUMMER CHAOS Kruel high-tailed it out of Chaotic Wrestling, forever: or so we thought. Kruel returned a month before COLD FURY 5 and perpetrated a near crippling attack on the champ, pulling up the ring canvas to expose the wood and metal that lay below and then delivering his signature "Kruel Intentions" neckbreaker. Handsome had to be rushed by paramedics to a local hospital where he remained for several days. The match marked Johnny's return to the ring, and he wasted little time getting after his hated rival. After much back and forth action, Kruel snagged control of the bloody and intensely violent brawl by busting Handsome wide open by throwing him headfirst into the cage. Later on while both men were trying to climb to freedom Kruel's hand suffered a laceration from the cage that needed some 25 stitches to close. Both men were bloodied, battered and beaten and found themselves racing towards an exit from the cage, but it was Handsome Johnny who won the race, climbing over the top of the cage and reaching the floor before Mike Kruel could crawl out the door. The bloodiest battle in Chaotic Wrestling history was in the books, the CW Heavyweight Champion had finally vanquished his arch nemesis and now he could celebrate with his best friend and newly crowned CW New England Champion, Psycho. This is one match that Chaotic fans would undoubtedly put at or near the top of any list of the promotions greatest matches.
